#bangkok - “Why do we have elections? You’ve fooled me,” a large banner hung from a downtown skywalk said Sunday.
The busy Asoke intersection was even more crowded yesterday when protesters packed in by the Terminal 21 shopping mall to express widespread dissatisfaction after Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat was prevented from becoming prime minister.
Hundreds gathered in the rainy afternoon to protest peacefully.
Many held signs questioning why Pita, the 42-year-old head of a progressive movement that won the most votes, was twice denied the chance to serve by parliament.
#ready was the rally’s theme, signifying the public’s readiness for change.
The protest ended around 8pm without any police intervention.
