Albert Pike zou gewag hebben gemaakt van "drie toekomstige wereldoorlogen" in een brief geschreven aan Giuseppe Mazzini gedateerd 15 augustus 1871. Echter, tot op de dag van vandaag heeft nog niemand de vermeende brief daadwekelijk geproduceerd; er is geen enkel bewijs dat de brief ooit geschreven is, laat staan verstuurd en ontvangen - en zijn we eigenlijk al klaar.
De versie van "de drie wereldoorlogen" die overwegend op het internet circuleert komt van de website threeworldwars . com in een artikel genaamd "Who was Albert Pike?" en geeft een foutieve bron "Satan: Prince of This World", een boek van William Guy Carr. Het is in werkelijkheid een rechtstreeks gekopieerde tekst uit het boek "Pawns In The Game" uit 1956 eveneens door William Guy Carr.

'One message that Albert Pike received from his “spirit guide,” and which in reality we know to be a demonic vision, he described in a letter that he wrote to Mazzini, dated August 15, 1871. This letter graphically outlined plans for three world wars that were seen as necessary to bring about the One World Order, and we can marvel at how accurately it has predicted events that have already taken place. This is not because the devil has powers of prophecy, but because his agents have undertaken to manipulate political events to closely follow his designs. Wanneer we aan de hand van beschikbare bronnen de weg terugzoeken komen we uiteindelijk uit bij 'Leo Taxil' die zichzelf “Docteur Bataille” noemde; werkelijke naam: Marie Joseph Gabriel Antoine Jogand-Pagès, en een, toegegeven, hoaxer was, een satirist, en tijdgenoot van Pike.
Carr zelf heeft in zijn, posthuum uitgegeven, vervolgboek, "Satan: Prince of This World" (1966), onder druk van vragen over de brief, niet alleen toegegeven dat er geen steekhoudend bewijs is dat de brief daadwerkelijk bestaat, ook dat de brief in het British Museum opgeslagen zou zijn, zoals Carr schreef in zijn eerdere boek, niet waar is.
Carr praat het recht door te stellen dat hij slechts heeft herhaald wat Cardinal Rodriguez schreef in "The Mystery of Freemasonry Unveiled" (1925) die op zijn beurt "The Cause" ("The Cause of World Unrest") (1920) en "Le Palladisme" (1895) van Domenico Margiotta -die grotendeels 'Leo Taxil' napraat - als bronnen aanhaalt en die laatste op zijn beurt verwijst naar een pamflet waarin we weinig tot niets terugvinden over de "drie wereldoorlogen" tekst.
N.B. "The Cause of World Unrest" is een compilatie van artikelen die in juli 1920 in de London Morning Post verschenen, in de nasleep van de Bolsjewistische Revolutie en de publicatie van de Protocollen van de Geleerde Wijzen van Sion. De artikelen waren anonieme redactionele stukken, onderzoekt leert dat de belangrijkste auteurs Ian Colvin, H.A. Gwynne en Nesta H. Webster waren en gezien hun status en reputatie is dat veelzeggend.
Wat we vinden is een verwijzing naar "Le Diable au XIXème Siècle" ("The Devil in the 19th Century") uit 1895 door "Docteur Bataille", 'Leo Taxil' dus, een pamflet, en is een aankondiging van een lezing en een te verschijnen boek(*), de uiteindelijke primaire bron. Ook in dat boek vinden we niks over "de drie wereldoorlogen' en loopt het spoor dood - meer (bruikbare, d.w.z., relevante) bronnen zijn er niet.
(*) Het Pamflet is wèl opgeslagen, en te zien, in het British Museum. Daarin is Carr dus eveneens onnauwkeurig geweest.
De brief, en dus "de drie wereldoorlogen" 'door Pike', is een mythe. Het enige dat overblijft is de eerst regel van de vierde paragraaf (zonder de tussencommentaren van Haupt) uit de versie die overwegend circuleert : "We shall unleash (...) the most bloody turmoil" waar we her en der op stuiten en bestaat uit napraterij. Het is die passage uit "The Devil in the 19th Century" die de bron vormt voor de hoax, het zou volgens 'Taxil' stammen uit een brief van Mazzini aan Pike, andersom dus, waarin gesteld zou worden om o.a. het Catholisisme omver te werpen. 'Taxil' beweert het slechts, hij toont niet aan dat een dergelijk briefwisseling daadwerkelijk heeft plaatsgevonden -dus dat de brief die hij vermeld werkelijk bestaat- laat staan de vermeende inhoud ervan.

Is 'de elite' bezig met het één en ander? De vraag stellen is 'm beantwoorden.
In de zoektocht naar 'de waarheid' echter, is het zaak fictie van feit te onderscheiden, anders komen we nooit ergens en raken we verzand in een oneindige cirkel in het verder verspreiden van fictie als feit (en feit als fictie).

N.B. Opmerkelijk is dat we in de zoektocht naar de oorsprong van 'de drie wereldoorlogen' eveneens stuiten op "de protocollen", inmiddels ook naar het land der fabelen verwezen want vindt de oorsprong in een politiek-satirisch stuk -gelijk Leo Taxil's "werk"- door Maurice Joly uit 1864, "Dialogue in Hell Between Machiavelli and Montesquieu", een soort van pamflet, en is geenszins een 'blueprint' voor totale wereldoverheersing door deze en gene - het is een aanklacht tegen het regime van Napoleon IIII - "de protocollen" is daarvan afgeleid waarin 'Napoleon III' en 'Frankrijk' zijn vervangen door respectievelijk 'Joden' en 'wereld', aangevuld met, gelijk 'de drie wereldoorlogen', allerhande verzinsels.
